As part of a five-year In-Service Support (ISS) contract under Project Wedgetail, Boeing has started training Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) maintenance personnel in the 737 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) program. Classroom and simulator courses began in mid-February with 32 students from RAAF No. 2 Squadron and five Boeing Defence Australia instructors. Training is set to run 147 days at the AEW&C support center at RAAF Base Williamtown.
