BELAC Cuts Costs of PMA Engine Blades

Chromalloy joint venture BELAC has announced a nine percent price reduction for its high pressure turbine (HPT) blades. President Chong Yi notes that commercial and military operators could save an average of $200,000 to $300,000 using the parts manufacturer approval (PMA) blades over the cost of OEM equivalents. “In today’s operating environment, this price reduction will translate to a significant reduction in overall maintenance costs,” Yi says. BELAC’s PMA parts “are a proven and viable alternative,” he adds. The Oldsmar, Fla.-based company also has a service that will ship HPT blades for CFM56 and CF6 engines worldwide for aircraft on ground (AOG) situations or unscheduled maintenance.
