American to Close KC Maintenance Base

American Airlines is planning to close its overhaul base at Kansas City Intl Airport (MCI), a facility that employs around 500 people. Airline officials reportedly met with city leaders Tuesday to tell them about the closure, with an announcement to the workforce expected today. American has two other maintenance bases, in Fort Worth, Texas and Tulsa, Okla., the largest of the hubs.
