The Federal Aviation Administration has finalized a two-year renewal of the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) for American Airlines mechanics. The program, run in cooperation with the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU), has been in place for 11 years, and encourages mechanics to voluntarily report safety-related concerns. For the first time, ASAP will include a “Just Culture” provision “that will go beyond specific incidents and explore the systems, policies and procedures that may have contributed to an event or a possible incident,” according to American.
