Alaska Airlines, Union Agree to Contract

The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) and Alaska Airlines have reached a two-year extension involving the carrier’s 658 aircraft mechanics. The agreement received support from 77 percent from those who voted. The extension calls for a 1.5 percent pay scale increase on Oct. 17 this year and again in 2010. The technicians will also participate in a performance-based incentive plan — the same one that covers Alaska Airlines pilots, flight attendants, management and dispatch employees. Fred Mohr, vice president of maintenance and engineering for the airline, says that the extension “recognizes the value of our skilled and dedicated technicians.”
