Airline Partners With Boeing, Engine Makers

Under a partnership to develop biofuels for aircraft, Air New Zealand, Boeing, Honeywell and Rolls-Royce will conduct a biofuel-powered test flight on Dec. 30. The flight is scheduled to originate from Auckland Airport with a 50/50 mix of Jet A1 and jatropha in the Rolls-Royce RB211 engines of an Air NZ Boeing 747-400. Personnel from Terasol Energy will join Boeing, Honeywell and Rolls-Royce representatives for the test flight, which is part of a wider effort to develop sustainable biofuels.
