Aircraft Grounded for Maintenance

As many as 12 A320 aircraft of state-owned carrier Indian Airlines have been grounded for major maintenance or want of engines, according to Indian authorities. “The exact loss of revenue is difficult to compute, as different aircraft are under scheduled maintenance or otherwise for different periods of time,” said civil aviation minister Praful Patel. He said typically, about six A320s are grounded for maintenance, but currently there were 12 aircraft grounded. He also said there was no shortage of pilots at Indian Airlines, but that there was a pilot shortage at its subsidiary, Alliance Air.
