AirTran Airways has awarded Israel Aerospace Industries' Bedek Aviation Group (IAI Bedek) a long term contract for maintenance of landing gear installed on the airlines’ growing fleet of Boeing 737NG aircraft. This contract is in addition to ongoing long term maintenance contracts between and AirTran and Bedek for Boeing 737NG and 717 components. AirTran Airways has ordered 115 Boeing 737NG aircraft and taken delivery of 50 to date. "This new contract for maintenance of Boeing 737NG landing gear and the previous comprehensive programs for component maintenance allow AirTran and Bedek to reduce costs, while maintaining the highest levels of quality and service." said Dany Kleiman, IAI Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Bedek Aviation Group. “AirTran Airways regards IAI’s Bedek Group as one of our superior suppliers of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services,” said Stephen Kolski, AirTran Airways’ senior vice president for operations. “In terms of cost, quality and service, we have found IAI’s Bedek Group ready, willing and able to consistently live up to its commitments.”
