Advanced Composite Aircraft Flies

The Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and Lockheed Martin have completed the first flight of the advanced composite cargo aircraft (ACCA). AFRL pilots flew the aircraft on June 2 from the base in Palmdale, Calif., taking the aircraft through airspeed and stability control tests to collect data on how the composite aircraft performs at various altitudes, attitudes and speeds.

The ACCA program features a Dornier 328J with an advanced composite mid-aft fuselage and empennage.
