AFI KLM Signs Contracts at Paris

by David Jensen, Editor-at-Large

A contract that Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) signed with AirAsia X at the Paris Airshow covers component support for the Malaysian carrier’s fleet of Airbus A330s. AirAsia X ordered 25 aircraft from Airbus. Two A330s have been delivered and the remainder will be in service by 2013. AFI KLM E&M also signed a contract that makes it the sole service provider for the CFM56-5B engines operated by international tourism giant Thomas Cook. The deal involves a renewed CFM56-5B contract linking the operator’s UK and Danish fleets, which has been expanded to take in five A320s operated by Thomas Cook Belgium. This is in addition to the 16 A320/A321s operated by Thomas Cook Airlines and Thomas Cook Scandinavia AS.
