AA’s Maintenance's Green Efforts

As another indication of the company’s ongoing environmental efforts, American Airline’s Kansas City Maintenance Base recently received the Gold Medal Award from Kansas City for “Significant Compliance” to its Wastewater Treatment Permit for the fifth consecutive year. American was also awarded the Platinum Award to commemorate this long-term achievement. This is just one example of American’s commitment to “being green” across its system. For example, in 2006 the Fort Worth Alliance Airport maintenance base received the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Texas Environmental Excellence Award for its recycled-wastewater system. Also contributing to these efforts is the company’s fuel conservation program, Fuel Smart. This employee driven initiative helped American reduce its carbon dioxide emissions footprint by 1.9 billion pounds last year. For related news
