Banyan handled 267 aircraft during Superbowl weekend. Among them were NetJets who made Banyan their Super Bowl headquarters. Banyan set up a dispatch center for them, a NetJets VIP exclusive lounge for high profile customers and had maintenance personal on premise to work with their crews for 48 hours. In addition, they had a large projection television, food, and drawings for the flight crews. It rained all day Super Bowl Sunday until 4AM Monday so most of the handling of the aircraft was in the rain. The electricity went off in their part of town from 2:00PM to 3:30PM before the game, due to two transformers (Banyan had back up generators for the phones, computers and Airnic). The control tower closed the airport for an hour when they lost their radar and they recovered a Caravan with a blown tire from the runway. Even with the weather, the hangar was filled with cheering fans as the Colts made Superbowl history, according to a Banyan spokesperson.FXE handled 600 IFR arrivals and departures during Superbowl weekend. Most of the traffic left on Monday.
