Turkish Engine Center Gets Mx Deal

Pratt & Whitney and Turkish Airlines Technic joint venture, Turkish Engine Center, has received a support contract valued at more than $1 billion. The agreement calls for the center to perform engine work under an existing 10-year maintenance pact between Turkish Airlines and Turkish Technic that runs through 2016. Turkish Engine Center plans to open a 269,000-square-foot facility at Sabiha Gokcen Intl Airport on the Anatolian peninsula in mid-2009, providing MRO services for CFM56 series and V2500-A5 engines. General Manager Daniel Tennant says that the center will overhaul up to 200 engines annually.
