L-3 Selects IntelliFlight

At this year’s NBAA, S-TEC Corp. announced that L-3 Avionics Systems selected the IntelliFlight 1950 as the Digital Flight Control System (DFCS) for their SmartDeck Integrated Flight Controls and Display System. As part of SmartDeck, the IntelliFlight 1950 DFCS will be the first S-TEC DFCS to have its flight computer fully integrated into the avionics suite. The system’s advanced capabilities include the Indicated Airspeed Hold and GPS Steering Mode.

SAFERjett, an aviation training and education company, will train all pilot and maintenance personnel for both the A500 and A700 aircrafts. The training will occur at Fort Worth Alliance Airport beginning in late 2008 when the company’s 50,000-square-foot facility will be completed. SAFERjett’s primary focus is on the VLJ market and is in the process of building the first A700 full-motion Level D simulator.

Ship it AOG Becomes Partner

The Texas-based distributor of business aviation spare parts signed an agreement with Circle Seal Controls, Inc. to be the exclusive distributor of Circle Seal’s line of business jet aircraft wheel pressure gauges and relief valves. In addition to distributing the gauges and valves, AOG will also collaborate with Circle Seal to develop pressure gauges for a variety of business jet applications.

Gulfstream Expands Training

Gulfstream and FlightSafety are expanding their collaborative Total Technical Training (TTT) maintenance program to Long Beach, Calif. This expansion comes less than a year after the company already expanded outside of Gulfstream’s Savannah headquarters to Dallas. TTT is a hands-on aircraft maintenance-training program that supports GII, GIII, GIV/GIV-SP, G350, G450 and G550. Gulfstream has also enrolled 1,500 business jets in its Web-based aircraft maintenance tracking system, CMP.net. With this system, customers can input and retrieve real-time maintenance information through a computer with a Web browser.

Cessna Machinists Ratify

An agreement was reached for a three-year contract with members of Local Lodge 774 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (I.A.M.). The new contract took effect in mid-September and Cessna’s President and CEO, Jack J. Pelton, said, "This agreement is a true reflection of Cessna’s commitment to all employees and to our belief in the value of working collaboratively with the I.A.M."

Bombardier Launches nice

Lufthansa Technik’s digital, ethernet-based cabin management and in-flight entertainment system, nice (networked integrated cabin equipment), has moved into the business jet market on Bombardier’s Challenger 300. Since August, all of the Challenger 300s (eight since installation began in August) have been delivered with nice installed.
