3M’s Clean Sanding Discs

3M has a new sanding disc for composite surface refinishing. The new disc has a unique surface configuration. It is designed to mimic naturally occurring patterns found in phenomena such as a hurricane or a seashell to offer optimal dust extraction capabilities and better cutting action. These discs are designed to work on composite structures and for paint removal. They have a patented hole pattern allowing the dust to be removed effectively and preventing disc loading. Since the discs do not need to be changed out as often, productivity will increase. "According to customers, these discs last two to four times the life of a no-hole disc," said Paul Neary, MRO market segment manager for 3M. "They cover more square feet and last more seconds per disc," he added. The discs are available in 5- and 6-inch diameters in various grades. 3M, www.3m.com

Lighter Bonding with 3M’s Flame Retardant Tape

3M recently introduced a new flame retardant tape, 3M VHB Tape, developed for the aerospace industry. The tape meets both FAR (a) 12 second Vertical Burn Appendix F, Part 1 (a) (ii) and the European RoHS Directive. "The tape can take the place of traditional adhesives and mechanical fasteners including screws, welds, rivets and two-part adhesives and sealants," said Neary. Durham Announces Stringer-Less Folding Work Benches

The Durham Manufacturing Company has introduced a series of ergonomic, Stringer-Less Folding Work Benches offering 2,000 pound capacities. Designed with four heavy-duty gussets for stability, the benches are accessible from both sides. Tops are fabricated of 14-gauge steel with formed channel on all four sides. Corners are grounded smooth for safety. There is a choice of steel or tempered hard board over steel top surfaces. Hinged legs are welded to the tops and can be adjusted in one-inch increments, from a 28-inch to a 42-inch height above floor. Shelves and drawers to fit all models are offered as options.
