Think Before You Begin

I think that if the young people who are considering become aircraft mechanics and technicians had a read of the very interesting article about liability and mechanics found here — http://www.www.avweb.com/news/savvyaviator/savvy_aviator_51_mechanics_liability_196570-1.html?type=pf — there wouldn’t be any more people coming into the profession at all. Who in their right mind would ever consider a career with so much responsibility and liability for so little compensation! This article is quite frank and should be read by ALL A&Ps, IAs and AMEs in every country. It should be a sudden and shocking awakening to anyone that thinks we are not professionals and that what we do is easy. As is usually the case, after the crash, the mechanics are put to the wall because their name and number are in the books — FOREVER!
