Caribbean Resorts Stir Interest in Travel Despite Recessionary Fears and Gas Price Increases

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Those looking for relief from the high price of gas and fears of recession, can take advantage of very attractive savings and value added offerings that have now been announced for travel through December 20, 2008 at five Elite Island Resorts' Caribbean properties. When guests book by July 14, 2008, they can enjoy all the amenities of upscale island properties on Antigua, Palm Island, The Grenadines, St. Lucia, and Tortola, BVI, but at a significant savings.

The following rates are per person, double occupancy, and all-inclusive, with all meals, beverages, non-motorized water sports, hotel taxes and service charges included (except for Long Bay as noted below).

The iconic Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort, which just debuted 12 new luxury Hibiscus Suites, has decided to give guests even greater value by increasing its Sun Dollars (resort credit) from 15 percent to now 30 percent from June to November, and 15 percent through December 20. Rates start at $323.

On Antigua, Galley Bay Resort & Spa, featuring 30 new premium suites and the new Indulge spa, grants couples' wishes with a double upgrade: from Gauguin Cottage to Deluxe Beachfront (rate is $408) or from Superior Beachfront to Premium Beachfront Suite (rate is $420), realizing a savings of 15 to 20 percent.

Also, on Antigua, The Verandah Resort & Spa, the island's new eco-friendly resort and St. James's Club & Villas, with its club like atmosphere and new scuba center, feature 15 percent off published rates ($243 and $260 respectively), which translates to starting rates of $206 and $221 respectively. Plus guests have a choice of one free night on five night stays or two free nights on seven night stays.

Long Bay Beach Resort & Villas, Tortola, popular with those who love to sail and dive, features the same aforementioned promotion featured on Antigua with savings and free nights. Long Bay's breakfast plan rates after 15 percent savings reduces to $145.

On Palm Island, a secluded private-island hideaway in The Grenadines, travelers receive 25 percent savings off published rates with rates now starting at $259 plus a valuable $250 resort credit.
