FAA administrator Marion Blakey, former NTSB board member John Goglia and AM editor Matt Thurber presented the Aviation Maintenance John J. Goglia Time Out for Safety Awards to Lee Clements of Delta Air Lines and Steve Sinski of Continental Airlines (see related story January AM, page 8). The presentation took place at a ceremony on June 8th at FAA headquarters in Washington, D.C. The administrator praised the awardees for their contributions to aviation safety and referred to mechanics as unsung heros. Clements and Sinski were each presented with an engraved clock and a check for $500. In the spirit of true generosity, both Clements and Sinski announced they would donate the award money to charity.
