Unison Industries is a world leader in the design, manufacture and integration of electrical and mechanical systems for aircraft engines and airframes. A wholly owned subsidiary within GE’s Aviation business unit, Unison’s major product lines include turbine and piston engine ignition systems, electric power systems, wiring systems, sensing systems, and tube and duct systems. Unison’s headquarters is located in Jacksonville, Florida. Other operations are located in Norwich and Holtsville, New York; Rockford, Illinois; Dayton, Ohio; Wichita, Kansas; Saltillo, Mexico; and Rayong, Thailand.
Since 1980, Unison has been a leader in innovation, developing new products and enhancing existing products to provide the most advanced and cost-effective high performance technology available in the markets it serves. Unison began with the purchase of Slick Electro, Inc., which built magneto ignition systems for piston engine aircraft. In subsequent years, Unison expanded its product offerings through acquisitions, strong investment in research and development, and entry into new markets including, in 1999, the reintroduction of the Autolite brand of aviation spark plugs.
From its beginnings in the general aviation market, Unison has grown into a Tier 1 integrator of systems for major aircraft engine programs, including the GEnx and GE Honda HF120. In addition, Unison’s combination of electrical and mechanical systems capability has led to opportunities as an original equipment supplier to global aircraft manufacturers as well. With its broad product and service offering, today Unison meets the needs of manufacturers and aftermarket customers in the general, commercial and military aviation markets.
In 2002, Unison became a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Engine Services, Inc. The acquisition strengthened Unison’s position as a global systems integrator, with expanded resources and capabilities. Three years later, Unison acquired Aircraft Parts Corporation (APC), a leading manufacturer of starter-generators and generator control units for military, business jet, and helicopter applications. This acquisition expanded Unison’s existing power generation product line and strengthened the company’s relationships with a number of major airframe manufacturers.
By combining the strengths of the businesses it acquired with an ongoing commitment to innovation, Unison has grown into a major aviation performance technology company with a global presence and broad product and service offerings. Today, Unison’s products can be found in almost everything that flies. For more information about Unison’s products, technologies and Tier 1 integration capabilities, visit www.unisonindustries.com.
