BitFlip Offers Eight Screwdriver Tips
Wiha Quality Tools of Monticello, Minn. has released its BitFlip magnetic screwdriver with storage for eight quarter-inch bits in the handle. The bit drawer flips out and rotates the bits toward the user. Three options, which all incorporate the company’s CushionGrip handle, are available: with slotted, Phillips and square bits, with slotted, Phillips and TORX bits, or with just TORX bits. Protek Offers Handheld DSO/DMM Device
Englewood, N.J.-based Protek Test & Measurement has unveiled its Model S2505, which is a dual-channel, 5 MHz bandwidth DSO that supplies 50Ms/S sampling rate and a 10,000-count True RMS DMM with data logging memory to 17,000 points. Powered by Li-Ion batteries, the device weighs under two pounds and measures 3.5 x 7.5 x 1.5 inches. Features in the DSO section include dual channel +/-3 percent vertical accuracy, 512 Bytes record length, 16 waveforms and setups memory storage, and a USB interface with software and cable. In the True RMS, auto ranging DMM mode, functions include six frequency measurement ranges from 100Hz to 10 MHz, trend plotting and go/no-go testing, and five True RMS ACV ranges from 1,000mV to 750 VAC. Fiber Discs Feature Quick Change Capability
PFERD has developed a new disc grinding system that reduces time spent changing discs and improves grinding productivity. The system comes in three mounting styles — plain arbor hole, standard quick change and Combiclick. According to PFERD, mounting using Combiclick discs is faster because they just "click" into place against the backing pad, instead of the traditional discs, which require pressure applied at the center to engage a spindle thread on an angle grinder. The company says that the fiber discs provide up to 25 percent increased stock removal, 30 percent longer service life, 30 percent less tool wear and 30 percent lower workplace temperature. PFERD is a subsidiary of August Rüggeberg, Merienheide, Germany. PFERD, 800-342-9015 or visit www.pferdusa.com.
Hirschmann Boosts Rotary Spindle Line for EDM
Elgin, Ill.-based Hirschmann Engineering USA has added its H80R.MNCM indexing spindle and H1625.AC3 AC control to its line of high-speed submersible rotary spindles for electrical discharge machining (EDM). The H80R uses special bearings with minimum radial run-out, an AC motor and a Heidenhain encoder to measure positioning of +/-5 arc sec. It can also be incorporated into certain machine controls, allowing high-speed rotation, indexing and turn-while-burn applications. The H1625 control enables continual high-speed rotation and indexing that can be integrated with the machine control for automatic operation through M-Code. Meldin 7000 Series Receives UL Flammability Rating
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics’ Polymer Products Business has introduced its Meldin 7000 series of thermoset polyimide materials, which are ideal for semiconductor equipment components, such as for aircraft. The 7000 series features electrical and heat insulation, chemical resistance and wear resistance properties. The Meldin 7001, 7021, 7022 and 7211 grades have completed flammability testing under the UL94 V-0 5VA rating. All grades are available as isostatically molded rods, hot compression molded sheets and rods, and direct-formed parts. Saint-Gobain, 800-223-4966 or visit www.rulon-meldin.com.
Borescope Offers 360-Degree Viewing
Lenox Instrument Company is offering its Twist-A-View flexible fiberoptic orbital probe borescope. The device allows 360-degree inspections of tight, restricted areas with a twist of the scope. Full rotation is possible through a 90-degree right angle viewing adaptor. At a total size of 4 mm in diameter, the 28-inch Twist-A-View can "snake" into locations that require visual inspection. Around 17,000 fiber optic pixels deliver a high-resolution image. The borescope "offers the sharpness and capabilities of a rigid borescope, but requiring the versatility of a flexible scope," says Paul Lang, VP of Lenox, which is based in Trevose, Pa.
