Eclipse Receives FAA Part 145 Certifcation
Eclipse Aviation received 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Station Certification just days after receiving FAA Type Certification for its very light jet. The factory-owned service center's repair manual was reviewed by the FAA and found acceptable, as was the repair station training manual.
ACTS Signs Five-Year Fleet Deal with Zoom
Air Canada Technical Services (ACTS) has signed a five-year agreement with Zoom Airlines to provide total fleet management services on the airline's fleet of four 767-300 aircraft. ACTS will manage all issues related to air regulatory compliance for Zoom.
GE Wins GEnx Engine Orders In China
General Electric Company (GE) has won engine orders in China. Of the 57 Boeing 787s ordered for airlines in China, 42 will have the GEnx engine. The four airlines that chose the GEnx are China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shangai Airlines, and China Southern. The 84 installed GEnx engines for the Chinese airlines are valued at more than $1 billion and will be maintained under the OnPoint Solutions agreements.
FedEx Reports Strong Growth
FedEx reported revenue of $8.54 billion, up 11 percent from the previous year; operating income of $784 million, up 34 percent from the previous year; and net income of $475 million, up 40 percent from the previous year (see related story page 36).
Triumph Group to Provide 787 Floor
Triumph Group, Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Triumph Composite Systems, Inc., in Spokane, Washington, has been awarded a contract by The Boeing Company to provide the composite floor panel system for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner program. This initial award has an estimated value of $49 million.
AFI to Support Vietnam Airlines
Air France Industries (AFI) has signed a contract with Vietnam Airlines to provide fleet support for four A330 aircraft, to be delivered starting last month. AFI will provide engineering services and will assign staff to Hanoi airport for line and light maintenance services.
ANA Selects Goodrich Braking for Its B787
All Nipon Airways (ANA) has selected Goodrich to supply wheels and electrically actuated brakes for its Boeing 787 aircraft. "We anticipated demand for an alternative to traditional, hydraulically actuated braking, and began the pursuit of electrically actuated braking technology more than a decade ago," said Jack Carmola, president of Goodrich Airframe Systems Segment.
