Embraer Granted FAA TC
The company’s 195 jet, the largest ever produced by Embraer, has received its type certificate from the FAA. The jet already has its original certification from the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and its EASA certification. The 195 has a maximum seating capacity of 122 passengers, a range of up to 2,200 nautical miles and burns up to 45 percent less fuel than the company’s previous generation of jets.
Banyan Line Tech Awards
Officials at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport presented their annual Airport Operations Area Safety Award to Banyan Air Service employees. The award recognizes individuals who have operated ground vehicles and equipment on the airfield without causing a surface incident or runway incursion. Employees who maintain flawless service records for 5, 10 and 20 years, are awarded. Four Banyan employees: Mike Sullivan, line service technician; Shawn Mack, director of training; Joe Beira, line service technician; and Raul Maldonado, line service technician, all received the awards this year.
ARSA and Foreign Oversight
The Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) conducted a 2005 survey that found the average FAA-certified foreign repair station is audited frequently by different oversight authorities. "...foreign repair stations are subject to a tremendous amount of oversight by regulators, their customers and other entities," said ARSA Managing Director and General Counsel Marshall S. Filler during testimony on Capitol Hill.
Dallas Airmotive Signs
The five-year service agreement with Med-Trans Corporation and Air Evac Lifeteam allows Dallas Airmotive to provide engine repair and overhaul services to the two companies’ fleet of Bell helicopters. Med-Trans has 20 Bells and Evac Lifeteam has a fleet of 85. Dallas Airmotive is a Rolls-Royce authorized maintenance center for the Model 250 engine used in the Bell helicopters.
Safety Flag Company Moves
The company that manufactures safety flags, safety vests and other reflective gear, moved to Central Falls, R.I. and quadrupled its space to 25,000 square feet. Safety Flag will use the newly renovated 100-year-old historic building for stocking goods and supplies, adding workstations and streamlining shipping.
Midcoast’s 100th Completion
When Midcoast Aviation delivered a Challenger 850 this summer, the company marked its 100th green completion. Since Midcoast began to focus on completions in 1999, it has completed 80 604s, three 850s and four Globals. The company is expanding its completions offering to include narrow-body aircraft and broke ground at St. Louis Downtown Airport to add a 145,000-square-foot hangar to accommodate the larger aircraft. The company plans to add at least 200 new employees.
