Telefonix PDT has received Validation of Supplemental Type Certificate (VSTC) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for its server and cabin wireless access point (CWAP), Telefonix PDT said.

The Cabin Pinnacle server and CabinACe CWAP STC covers the Boeing 737-700/-800/-900/-900ER. It comes as part of Telefonix PDT’s effort to expand direct offerability of its Summit line of inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) hardware in China, the company said.

“Our commitment to the growing aviation market in Asia is unwavering,” said Alan Manns, Director of Aviation Business Development at Telefonix PDT. “Together, with our partners in the region, we are able to support all aspects of IFEC hardware delivery. This is an exciting step towards our first Summit line installation in China.”

Telefonix PDT President Michael Kuehn recently spoke of the growth of the IFEC market in China, at the In-Flight Connectivity Technology (ICT) Conference, the company said. He said that, according to the 2016 SITA/Air Passenger Survey, 98% of Chinese passengers carry at least one device, and more than 58% use the device for inflight entertainment.
