[Avionics Magazine 11-30-2016] Boeing has selected Astronautics to supply its three-inch flight instrument AFI 3300 with a Bearing Distance Heading Indicator (BDHI) to provide supplemental tactical air navigation for Boeing’s Special Purpose 777-300ER airplane.

The AFI 3300 display has a mean time between failure rate of greater than 10,000 hours and is a low-power, low-heat, passively cooled display, according to a statement released by Astronautics. It also features a 300 x 300 pixel Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) that is dimmable and sunlight readable. The display will also include an ARINC 429 digital information transfer system.
