[Avionics Magazine 10-05-2016] L-3 Communications has officially acquired Aerosim, including Aerosim Technologies, located in Burnsville, Minnesota, and Aerosim Flight Academy, located in Sanford, Florida. Aerosim provides commercial aviation training while Aerosim Technologies provides pilot and maintenance technician training products. Aerosim Academy, a flight school for prospective airline pilots, trains both U.S. and international cadets.

Following the acquisition, which was completed on Sept. 30, L-3 will integrate Aerosim into the L-3 Commercial Training Solutions (L-3 CTS) division of the company’s electronic systems business segment. The company will rename the segment L-3 Aerosim-CTC and projects it will generate approximately $50 million in sales for the year ending Dec. 31, 2017.
