[Avionics Magazine 10-05-2016] General Micro Systems has unveiled new features that aim to boost the S2U King Cobra rugged server’s capabilities on the battlefield. Designed for harsh environments and space-constrained use, the S2U is ideal for applications such as Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle (UAV) control centers, Tactical Operations Centers (TOC) and others.

The enhanced S2U server includes dual Intel Xeon E5-2600v4 family Central Processing Units (CPUs), 48TB of ultra-fast storage, integrated Cisco industrial-strength Embedded Services Router (ESR), 20 ports of managed Gigabit Ethernet switch with Power over Ethernet (POE+), up to 1024 Gigabytes (1 Terabyte) of system DDR4 Random Access Memory (RAM), and an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) that powers the system and provides backup power for up to 15 minutes for graceful shut-down or suspend-to disk. The S2U is 100 percent subsystem Line Replacement Unit (LRU) capable.
