[Avionics Today 10-03-2016] Airbus and the Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have launched a long-term partnership to reduce the impact of aviation on the environment. The agreement was signed during the ICAO World Aviation Forum on Aviation Partnerships for Sustainable Development in Montreal, Canada on Sept. 26.

Based on the industry’s four-pillar strategy of technology, including sustainable fuels, efficient operations, infrastructure improvements and market-based measures, the long-term partnership is looking to combine optimized operations with Airbus’ latest generation aircraft to minimize fuel burn and noise emissions. It will also review opportunities for building capacity in areas such as emissions data inventory and monitoring systems in preparation for the ICAO Global Market Based Measure implementation.
