[Avionics Today 08-22-2016] The global military aircraft digital glass cockpit systems market will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 3.81 percent by the year 2020, according to a forecast by Research and Markets.

Technological innovation in this field has led to digital glass cockpit to display information with the help of advanced flight management systems. It helps the crew with easy-to-read, graphic portrayals of key flight indicators like altitude and speed. The system also provides greater backup capability, weighs less and uses less power in comparison to traditional style cockpit.

These digital glass cockpits are being incorporated into all types of aircraft including fighters, bombers, trainers, airlifters and Helicopters to give them tactical advantage.

North America is the largest market for glass cockpits and holds majority share in the market, but falling defense expenditure will reduce its market share in the forecast period. The Asia-Pacific region will capture the share and Japan, China, and India will lead the growth in the region in the forecast period. Africa is currently a very small market, but the growing prosperity in the region will make it one of the fastest growing markets post 2020, according to the report.
