[Avionics Today 04-04-2016] In-flight digital solutions provider Immfly has successfully qualified Kontron’s advanced airborne server and Cabin Wireless Access Point (CWAP) for its wireless In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) solution on Iberia Express Airlines. Immfly successfully tested the platform, which also acts as an e-Commerce solution, on half the fleet in 2015, enabling Iberia Express passengers to experience the system as part of regular service.

The Kontron solution provided consists of the complete set of hardware products necessary to implement the Wi-Fi network onboard the aircraft. Immfly received Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) airworthiness approvals for the A-320 family within a year of their start date and credit the platform’s open architecture. The companies expect to complete outfitting the remainder of Iberia Express’ fleet with Immfly’s digital platform before summer 2016.
