L-3 Wins Maintenance Contract for Naval F/A-18 Fleet

[Avionics Today 03-10-2016] L-3 Communications has won a contract award to provide depot-level maintenance for the U.S. Navy’s fleet of F/A-18 A/B/C/D  fighter jets.

Under the contract, L-3 will provide structural life-extension modifications and inspections designed to improve the availability of strike fighter assets to meet ongoing operational commitments. Mark Von Schwarz, president of L-3’s aerospace systems business, said the contract work will combine the expertise of L-3’s naval aviation experts within its MAS and Platform Integration divisions.
 
L-3 Platform Integration provides complex aircraft integration, sustainment and modification services for military, commercial and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers. L-3 MAS, a division of L-3’s Aerospace Systems business segment, is based in Canada and operates as an In-Service Support (ISS) integrator.
