[Avionics Today 03-03-2016] Garmin has introduced the aera 660, a new aviation portable device that can operate as either a Class I or Class II Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) for general aviation operators and offers synthetic vision and wireless connectivity. According to Garmin, the device enables access to geo-referenced Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) enroute, Visual Flight Rules (VFR) sectional charts and Garmin FliteCharts terminal procedures and aims to allow pilots to transition to paperless cockpits.

Furthermore, when paired with the GTX 345, Flight Stream or the GDL 39/GDL 39 3D, the system transfers and displays Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) traffic and weather.
