[Avionics Today 01-20-2016] Airbus has delivered the first A320neo to its launch customer, the Lufthansa Group.

The A320neo is equipped with all new technology and Pratt & Whitney PurePower Geared Turbofan engines with the aim to increase efficiency, reduce emissions and noise and burn 15 percent less fuel than current generation aircraft from day one and 20 percent less by 2020.

Lufthansa Group has ordered a total of 116 A320neo aircraft. The full range of Airbus wide-body aircraft have been or will be a part of Lufthansa’s fleet, including the A300/A310, A380, A330 and A350 XWB — for which Lufthansa has 25 firm orders.
