[Avionics Today 11-25-2015] L-3 Aviation Products and Thomas Global Systems have signed an alliance agreement to cooperate in the development of certain Cathode Ray Tube to Liquid Crystal Display (CRT-to-LCD) upgrade products that provide a cost-effective growth path for cockpit upgrades.

L-3 Aviation Products President Stuart Mullan said the Thomas Global agreement builds on L-3’s recent award from ATR to provide an LCD upgrade for its 42/72 aircraft. Above, the cockpit of an ATR 42-600 is pictured. Photo: ATR Aircraft.

“L-3 is delighted to be working with Thomas Global, leveraging its CRT-to-LCD display conversion technology and growing commercial market presence,” said Stuart Mullan, president of L-3 Aviation Products. “This agreement builds on our recent award from ATR to provide an LCD display upgrade for its 42/72 aircraft. The ATR program is a springboard for CRT-to-LCD upgrades on other aircraft platforms.”

Angus Hutchinson, CEO of Thomas Global, added, “This agreement leverages the exceptional display experience of both Thomas and L-3, and builds on the launch of Thomas’ TFD-8601 display, which is designed to replace legacy CRT primary flight displays on corporate and regional aircraft.”
