Flying Colors MRO Achieves Bombardier Challenger 604/605 ADS-B STC

[Avionics Today 10-12-2015] Canadian completions, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) company Flying Colours Corp., has secured a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out for Bombardier Challenger 600-2B16 (604 and 605) airframes from the FAA. The company completed the first aircraft to be fitted with the system, a Bombardier Challenger 605, at their U.S. facility in late September. Flying Colours will submit the STC for validation by both Transport Canada and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) this year.

Following certification, Flying Colours Corp. has moved on to a second ADS-B installation on a Bombardier Challenger 300, which will be inducted in November. The company anticipates that the FAA will certify this type before the end of the year.

Flying Colours has worked for a year to generate the necessary skills and technology requirements to achieve the STC. The STC will be available for installation at all Flying Colours facilities upon issuance.
