[Avionics Today 08-20-2015] The FAA has approved Pan Am International Flight Academy to conduct the Airline Transport Pilot Certification Training Program (ATP-CTP), a new training requirement for pilots wishing to qualify for the FAA Airline Transport Pilot exam. The approval is effective immediately.

Increased safety was the number one goal in the changes the FAA is looking to implement in coming years, which includes: completion of the ATP-CTP course, increased flight experience, passing the ATP written exam as well as performing at the required levels during the ATP practical oral and flight testing.

The six-day approved Pan Am program consists of 30 hours of academic training including: aerodynamics, meteorology, air carrier operations, leadership, Crew Resource Management (CRM) and safety, as well as 10 hours of training and demonstration in a level D simulator.
