[Avionics Today 07-07-2015] Avionica has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the FAA that grants approval for the installation of Avionica’s satLINK Max Iridium SATCOM System on Next Generation Boeing 737s. The satLINK Max is the Miami, Fla.-based manufacturer’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) voice and data Iridium aircraft satellite communications solution.

Typical applications of the satLINK MAX include two flight deck voice channels, one FANS-over-Iridium (FOI) datalink channel and one voice and data capable cabin service channel, according to Avionica.

United Airlines will be the first carrier to start installing the Satlink Max across its fleet of Boeing 737s.
