[Avionics Today 06-05-2015] Cathay Pacific Airways has selected Rockwell Collins’ new visual system that combines the JVC Kenwood VS2500 laser-hybrid projector with Rockwell Collins’ EP-8000 image generator. The new visual system will be installed on the airline’s first Airbus A350 XWB Full Flight Simulator (FFS) in Hong Kong.

The VS2500 projector brings together the laser-hybrid light source with e-shift technology that shifts sub-frames by 0.5 pixels both vertically and horizontally to achieve four times the pixel density of the original content.

“We’re making our industry-leading commercial visual system even better with this new projection technology “Pilots will appreciate the improved fidelity that our new solution brings, and airlines will appreciate the extended life and reduced maintenance, resulting in lower cost of ownership,” said LeAnn Ridgeway, vice president and general manager, Simulation and Training Systems for Rockwell Collins of the new technology.
