[Avionics Today 03-23-2015] Rockwell Collins has acquired Pacific Avionics, a Singapore-based company specializing in technologies used for wireless information distribution, including In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC).

Rockwell Collins will look to integrate Pacific Avionics’ wireless cabin Intranet and Internet connectivity platform into their existing portfolio of cabin products and services. The acquisition looks to offer the ability to stream video content to more than 250 passengers simultaneously alongside a flexible architecture that can support an array of applications, services and faster wireless speeds onboard aircraft.

“This acquisition builds on our overall information management strategy by enabling wireless distribution of digital information aboard the aircraft,” said Kelly Ortberg, chief executive officer and president of Rockwell Collins.
