Nigeria to Start CPDLC, ADS-C Deployment

[Avionics Today 03-12-2015] Nigerian civil Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) is ready to start deployment of Controller to Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C) to improve aircraft communication throughout Nigerian airspace. Under a new agreement with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), SITA OnAir will supply CPDLC and ADS-C solutions and services at the Lagos and Kano Air Traffic Control (ATC) centers.

“The new CPDLC systems at our air traffic control centers in Lagos and Kano will move voice traffic off congested frequencies and allow for accurate data exchange between the controllers and pilots,” said Ibrahim Abdulsalam, managing director at NAMA.
