[Avionics Today 02-25-2015] Orbital ATK has completed the installation and integration of its AAR-47 Missile and Laser Warning System with Hostile Fire Indication (HFI), Symetrics’ ALE-47 Countermeasures Dispensing System (CMDS), and Southeast Aerospace’s aircraft modification kits onto AH-1S helicopters for the Republic of Korea Army. The work was completed through the Orbital ATK Defense Systems Group.

The AAR-47 integrates missile, laser and hostile fire threat warning into a single system. With Orbital ATK’s HFI capability added to the AAR-47, military aircrews flying helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft can detect a wider range of threats to their aircraft, including smaller-caliber weapon fire and rocket propelled grenades, and quickly respond with countermeasures.
