[Avionics Today 02-03-2015] SAE International Industry Technologies Consortia (ITC) has announced the purchase of ADS Aerospace Technical Standards, a U.K.-based organization that supports aerospace and defense manufacturing with product design standards. Through the purchase, SAE ITC will acquire more than 450 active and 3,500 historical aerospace technical standards.

ADS standards are used for components and engines on Airbus commercial and military aircraft. The newly acquired standards will be managed and sold individually through SAE International’s London office.

“For decades now, SAE International has been viewed as a leader in the global aerospace standards community,” said David L. Schutt, CEO of SAE International. “We are excited about this new opportunity to be involved with technical standards that go back as far as World War I.”
