Customers to Receive Rebates Following Swanwick Computer Glitch

[Avionics Today 12-18-14] Customers who were grounded or delayed due to the Swanwick Air Traffic Control (ATC) center technical malfunction may receive a return on their ticket. Following the computer glitch at the Hampshire-based NATS center last Friday, the Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) has established there will be financial repercussions. The short statement provided reads:

“NATS confirms that there will be a financial consequence for the company from the delay caused by the technical problem at Swanwick on 12 December 2014. Under the company’s regulatory performance regime, customers will receive a rebate on charges in the future. The amount is being calculated and will be notified to customers in due course.”
