[Avionics Today 11-13-2014] Air China has selected the Thales TopFlight satellite communications solution for its order of 22 Boeing 737 aircraft, scheduled for delivery between 2015 and 2016.

The TopFlight solution offers voice and data services for both cockpit and cabin and was the first ARINC 781 satcom system to be certified on Boeing aircraft.

Its B737 configuration will provide two voice and one data channels, enabling Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) and Future Air Navigation System (FANS) communications. It can also be configured to deliver Swiftbroadband to the cockpit with the aim of future-proofing cockpit connectivity for the industry’s increasing data requirements.
