[Avionics Today 11-04-2014] Southwest Airlines has partnered with Beats Music to provide a “uniquely curated” music experience onboard Wi-Fi enabled Southwest aircraft. The service, powered by Global Eagle Entertainment, was introduced onboard a Boeing 737 and will be compatible with major mobile devices and operating systems, including iOS and Android, as well as most web browsers.

Accessing the in-flight service is free of charge and includes a library of hundreds of playlists, according to a statement released by Southwest. Customers accessing Beats Music onboard have the opportunity to listen to wide-ranging music programming in pop, rock, country and other genres.
