[Avionics Today 10-14-2014] TravelSky, an IT company servicing China’s air travel and tourist industry, has signed a new contract with Unisys to expand Unisys ClearPath server capacity in order to cope with the country’s burgeoning aviation industry.

Under the contract, Unisys will upgrade and expand TravelSky’s processing capacity with the addition of advanced hardware and, which will increase the system’s processing capacity.

This expansion looks to account for the International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecast, which states that routes within or connected to China will be the single largest driver of passenger growth globally, accounting for 24 percent of new passengers during 2013-2017.

“As China’s aviation industry continues to grow, the additional processing capacity within the robust, secure and flexible ClearPath environment will enable us to process more transactions — such as reservations and load calculations critical to flight safety — quickly and securely,” said TravelSky Vice President Zhu Xiaoxing.
