Exelis Deicing Software Implemented at PHL

By | July 25, 2014
[Avionics Today July 25, 2014] Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) has introduced a new deicing software management solution from Exelis that automates the manual deicing process for the airport, airlines and deicing provider.

The software solution, Symphony DeiceVue, collects fluid deicing data about specific aircraft and visually communicates updates about the process to users through a shared display accessed by users via a secure web-based portal. According to Exelis, Symphony reduces the need for manual data entry and verbal communications at airline ramp towers.

“For the first time, the airport, airlines, ground handling providers and FAA have real-time visibility to each aircraft’s location and stage in the deicing process, delivering major efficiency improvements on the airport surface when winter weather conditions arise” said Ted Carniol, general manager of commercial aviation solutions for Exelis.
