[Avionics Today July 1, 2014] Rockwell Collins is launching a new FANS 1/A+ and Controller Pilot Data Link (CPDLC) truing course under an exclusive agreement signed with data link training provider Kobev International.

The aerospace and defense manufacturer plans to use the training to address pilot interface and interaction with onboard avionics systems.  CPDLC will be one of several next generation technologies taught in the course, as pilots will also be introduced to Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network and Aeronautical Operational Control (AOC) communications over ACARS protocols.

"Using our Pilot Trainer emulation program enables pilots and flight crews to have an interactive experience with real time feedback, which provides an improved understanding of FANS," said Bob Richard, staff vice president, ARINC Direct, Information Management Services for Rockwell Collins.
