[Avionics Today March 14, 2014] Universal Avionics announced Software Control Number (SCN) 31.0 for its UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) at the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) convention in Nashville, Tenn.

SCN 31.0 provides UniLink operators with the necessary Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) capability to meet Eurocontrol’s Link 2000+ Program mandate requirements.  The update supports the  Aeronautical Telecommunications Network (ATN) Baseline 1 (B1) Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and Context Management (CM) functions which are the core of Link 2000+ compliance, according to Universal.

“Since Future Air Navigation System (FANS) 1/A messaging cannot be accommodated in Link 2000+ airspace, SCN 31.0 also features FANS/ATN CPDLC message harmonization,” Universal said in a statement.
