[Avionics Today Feb. 27, 2014] Airbus Helicopters added Precision Aviation Services (PAS) to its authorized service center network, the two companies announced during the Heli-Expo 2014 show.

PAS is the first Atlanta, Ga.-based center to be added to the Airbus global service network.

"There’s 22 service centers in North America, they just added us to the network, they’ve never had one in the Atlanta market," said Adrienne Robinson, president of PAS. "We see the Atlanta market as an area for corporate growth, corporate helicopters and for law enforcement as well as they continue to add helicopters to their operations."

PAS performs avionics installations, routine maintenance, 12-year inspections, and serves both civil and military operators.

Robinson said the Airbus authorization will also give the company a better standing up against its largest competitor, Metro Aviation, which is also an Airbus authorized service center.

The PAS president also believes that the FAA’s recent announcement mandating safety enhancing equipment, combined with the Airbus authorization will be a boost for avionics retrofits for her business.

"We should certainly see a lot more inquiries about radio altimeters, ELTs and probably some for HTAWS [Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems] as well," said Robinson.
