[Avionics Today Feb. 26, 2014] Universal Avionics has unveiled the cursor control for the display system on its new avionics package for the Next Generation MD Explorer flight deck.

The display control is designed to enable pilots to easily change frequently used EFIS selections while maintaining positive control of the aircraft.

"Flight decks, such as the Next Generation flight deck for the MD Explorer, need to provide additional functionality and safety features while reducing pilot workload,” said Grady Dees, director of technical sales for Universal Avionics.

The company’s NextGen flight deck program with MD helicopters was first announced at Heli-Expo 2013, and both MD and Universal are continuing to work with the FAA for certification and development.
